Welcome To UK Pensions
UK Pensions Australia was established to provide help and education to people who have left the UK on a permanent basis and are considering transferring their UK pension benefits to an Australian superannuation fund.
In 2006 the UK made many changes to pension legislation. One of the changes was the confirmation that UK pensions could be transferred abroad provided that the individual had left the UK on a permanent basis and the receiving pension scheme had been registered in the UK as a Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme (QROPS).
Due to the age restrictions relating to the transfer of UK pensions to Australia, imposed by the HMRC in 2015, UK Pensions Australia was asked by clients aged under 55 to provide a solution which would allow more control of their pensions. This solution would relate to investments and currency exchange, together with in many cases, the protection of high transfer values. The solution we have now provided to clients, addresses the above problems and will also begin the preparation for a transfer to an Australian superannuation fund at age 55 or before if there is a rule change.

Meet the Founder

Peter Almond
Founder | UK Pension Australia
Peter has been involved in UK pension transfer advice in Australia since 2008. This advice has been in association with a number of financial advisers in Melbourne.
The success and respect he has received has encouraged him to establish a dedicated company, UK Pensions Australia (UKPA). The aim is to provide help and knowledge to clients in order to determine if the transferring of their UK pension to an Australian superannuation fund would be beneficial.
Peter was a qualified UK financial adviser from 1990 to 2008. In 1992 he established an independent financial services business in the North West of England, providing advice in all areas of financial planning. Due to the expansion of the business in the late 1990’s Peter concentrated on investments and pensions, specialising in providing advice on wealth creation.
In 2008 when Peter moved permanently to Australia he was amazed at the opportunity that was being provided to people now resident in Australia who had accrued UK pension benefits. The problem was that in the majority of cases although a transfer to an Australian superannuation fund would be beneficial, there was very few people in Australia prepared to provide advice. In 2010 Peter became fully qualified as an Australian financial adviser, since that time he has provided UK pension and Australian superannuation advice on the transferring of UK pensions to clients in all areas of Australia.
Peter’s knowledge of UK pensions has recently been recognised by the courts in Queensland and he was appointed as an expert witness in a legal claim which related to the merits of transferring UK pensions to Australian superannuation funds.
